At the Dallas NHRA event I went in two days early. I had a group of Sportsman racers headed by Greg Odom that had been asking me to play in the Greg Morris Memorial Golf Tournament for the last two or three years, but I haven’t been able to make it. This year I made a point of it.

We just came off a great week for Kasey Kahne Racing. We were at the Eldora Speedway in Ohio for the “4-Crown Nationals,” one of the biggest dirt-track weekends in the Midwest.

After the Formula Drift Seattle event in August, I jumped on a flight straight from Seattle and headed to Sweden. I hooked up with my wife Stina, who had flown over earlier, and all of our families in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

I got into Charlotte on Tuesday for the Inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals. I took my wife, Pam, just to enjoy the grand opening festivities. On Tuesday night we got to know track owner Bruton Smith and his son Marcus, and my wife took pictures with them. I took her down on the track and let her meet Michael Waltrip.

We were in constant preparation leading up to the U.S. Nationals Mopar® HEMI® Challenge event. We don’t take a month off in the middle. We went to the Vegas and Belle Rose races earlier in the year, and then we have three more events after the U.S. Nationals. You kind of need to have your ducks in a row and get everything figured out.
