Mopar and Enthusiasts are Cruising to the Strip in 2009
More than 200 Mopar enthusiasts from across the western United States participated in the fifth annual "2009 MoPower Cruise" to the "Mopars at the Strip" event, held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 20-22.
Participation at this year's event is expected to rise approximately 15 percent from 2008 entries. An estimated 80 drivers from Phoenix, 55 from Salt Lake City, 45 from Grand Junction, Colo., and 30 from Southern California have entered their iconic Mopar muscle cars to join the cruise. This number does not include the non-registered participants who may join the cruise in progress.
Area Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge dealers make up a considerable portion of cruise entrants, including representatives from Glendora Dodge in Glendora, Calif., Grand Junction Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep in Grand Junction, Colo., and Martin Swanty Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge in Kingman, Ariz.
At the "Mopars at the Strip" event, there will be unique vehicles located at the Mopar display paying homage to the muscle car era, including the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak by Mopar, 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible "Katrina," 1969 Dodge Charger R/T and the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. Additionally, three more vehicles upfitted with Authentic Dodge Accessories by Mopar will be on display, including the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, 2009 TorRed Dodge Challenger R/T and 2009 Silver Dodge Challenger R/T.
In addition to the historic vehicles that will be showcased at the Strip, Mopar will bestow its second "Top Eliminator" award to a best-in-class enthusiast-built vehicle. Mopar representatives will choose a meticulously customized and modified vehicle at the event, which will be one of six vehicles chosen at popular enthusiast and car collector events nationwide. The vehicle will be displayed in Mopar Alley at the 2009 SEMA Show, Nov. 3–6, in Las Vegas.
