Capps Captures Third Win of Season with Mopar HEMI® Power

Mopar HEMI-powered NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driver Ron Capps claimed his third victory of the season in just five events at the Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Capps bested fellow Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) and Mopar-powered Funny Car rookie Matt Hagan in the final round.

Capps took out Brian Thiel, Mike Neff and Robert Hight en route to his 57th final round. He posted a 4.182/297.81 pass to Hagan's 4.335/248.89 to claim his 28th career win. Capps continues to lead the Funny Car point standings, with Hagan second and DSR driver Jack Beckman, who lost to Hagan in the quarterfinals, clocking in at the seventh position.

"I was asked several times by the media what was wrong," said Capps, referring to his two first-round losses of the season following victories in the first two events, "and I just never worried. Ace [crew chief Ed McCulloch] needed to get in his comfort zone."
