Mopar-Fueled Saldana Downs Schatz at Deer Creek Speedway
Joey Saldana came out on top of a late race duel with three-time series champion Donny Schatz in World of Outlaws Sprint action on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. The Mopar-powered driver picked up his series-leading 18th A-Feature win in the series’ inaugural visit to the immaculate 3/8-mile track.
Saldana ran the extreme high side of the track in turn two on the final lap and was able to charge around Schatz exiting the corner to claim the lead for good. Saldana enjoyed a slim 0.273-second winning margin aboard his Mopar-powered Kasey Kahne Racing Budweiser Maxim.
"It was a great run, what can I say," said Saldana in Victory Lane. "That was awesome. Hopefully my wife and son were listening to that one online, because it was pretty spectacular."
Saldana remains third in the World of Outlaws Sprint standings. For more info on the series, visit http://www.worldofoutlaws.com.
