Mopar-Powered Driver Joey Saldana Named to AARWBA All-America Team
Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) World of Outlaws Sprint Series driver Joey Saldana was among a select group named to the 2009 America Auto Racing Writers & Broadcasters Association (AARWBA) All-America Auto Racing Team.
Saldana was named to the Second Team in the "Short Track" category after steering his Mopar-powered No. 9 Budweiser car to 21 overall World of Outlaws wins (of which 20 were A-Feature victories) during the 2009 season. The honor marked the second time in his career that Saldana had been named to the Second Team ballot in that category.
Saldana led the series in wins in 2009 along with laps led and money earned en route to a third-place finish in points. He won his second $50,000 Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in California this past season, along with the $20,000 inaugural Ironman 55 at I-55 Raceway in Missouri, as well as two victories at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway.
The AARWBA has been naming an All-America Auto Racing Team since 1970. Other drivers honored along with Saldana this year include Dario Franchitti, Mark Martin, Tony Schumacher, Helio Castroneves, Jimmie Johnson and Ashley Force Hood.
