Don Schumacher Racing Mopar/Oakley Dodge Stratus R/T Funny Car driver Gary Scelzi penciled his name in the NHRA record books forever by becoming the first Funny Car driver to break the 330 mph barrier at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill., in June 2004.

Scelzi clocked a 330.15 mph run in his Mopar HEMI®-powered machine during a night qualifying session at Joliet and backed up the mark with a 330.55 mph run. Scelzi banked three wins in 2004 and a third-place finish in the final point standings as a prelude to his Funny Car title-winning 2005 campaign.
