Top 10 Team Mopar® Moments of '00s: #5 Coons Banks USAC Sprint Championship, Third Straight USAC Title with Mopar Power

Jerry Coons Jr. capped a remarkable decade for Team Mopar® in the USAC Racing Series by claiming the 2008 USAC Sprint Car title in his Mopar-powered No. 69 Hoffman Auto Racing sprinter. The championship was the third consecutive USAC title for Coons, who also captured the 2006 and 2007 USAC Midget championships in a Mopar-fueled Wilke-Pak car.

Coons' title also marked the sixth consecutive year in which a Mopar-powered driver had claimed a USAC championship. NASCAR star Tony Stewart formed a formidable Mopar-sponsored USAC team in 2003, with drivers J.J. Yeley (2003 Sprint), Jay Drake (2004 Sprint) and Josh Wise (2005 Midget, 2006 Sprint) bringing home USAC titles for Mopar and Stewart. Another NASCAR star, Kasey Kahne, fielded his own Mopar-sponsored USAC team in 2007–2008. Mopar also signed on in 2008 as sponsor of the USAC Mopar Midget National Championship Series.
