Busch Triumphant in Coca-Cola 600
NASCAR Sprint Cup star Kurt Busch drove his No. 2 Miller Lite Vortex Dodge Charger to victory in the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 30, giving the Penske Racing driver a double dose of Victory Lane at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Busch also won the Sprint All-Star race at Charlotte on Saturday, May 22, banking $1 million with the win.
Busch edged out Jamie McMurray by .737 seconds to claim his second victory of the season and 22nd of his career. He led the race for 252 laps and is now sixth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings.
"It’s unbelievable with this team. To have a car run that well last Saturday night on the short runs and to have a car today to make the long runs was awesome," said Busch, who competed earlier this year in his Mopar® HEMI®-powered 1970 Dodge Challenger Super Gas car at the NHRA Gatornationals. "This team deserves it. It’s a special feat to win the All-Star race and the 600. It’s just a fantastic day for all of our employees, all of our associates and Miller Lite, of course, and for Dodge. With this Dodge program, we’re going strong.
"This has been a dream come true, to be able to wrap up this special weekend, to put a bow on it with this Coca-Cola 600 win. It’s a prestigious race, a tough race, and most of all it’s a team race."
