Reigning Funny Car Champ Hagan to Run Mopar Graphics at Five Events in 2012
Matt Hagan, the reigning NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car champion, will carry special Mopar® graphics on his Mopar-powered Dodge Charger R/T for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) in five events this season.
"It’s exciting to carry the No. 1 on the side of our Mopar Funny Car, and Mopar was key to what we did with our Dodge Charger R/T racecar last year," Hagan said. "The aerodynamics of our Chargers and Mopar parts is a big reason why we could set speed and elapsed time records last season."
Hagan will run the Mopar wrap at the brand’s flagship event, the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals in Denver, Colo. on July 20–22. The native of Christiansburg, Va. will also compete with Mopar graphics on his Funny Car at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind., and twice during the NHRA Countdown to the Championship playoffs, at Charlotte, N.C. and in the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif.
Hagan raced with full Mopar colors on his car twice in 2011, reaching the final round of the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals, as well as advancing to the semifinals of the U.S. Nationals.
The 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season kicks off for Hagan Feb. 9–12 with the 52nd Annual NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club (Calif.) Raceway at Pomona. For more information on NHRA, visit http://www.nhra.com.
