Johnson Works to Perfect Mopar® Dodge Avenger During Bradenton Test Sessions
Team Mopar® NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series driver Allen Johnson put his new NHRA Pro Stock Mopar Dodge Avenger through a third set of test sessions last week at Bradenton Motorsports Park. Johnson recorded a best run of 6.54 seconds at 210.70 mph during four days of testing on Jan. 18–21 at the Florida drag strip.
Johnson gained valuable seat time and his J&J Racing crew gained much-needed data, recording 19 passes during their Bradenton visit. The longtime Team Mopar racer debuted his Mopar Dodge Avenger during test sessions last month at Palm Beach International Raceway and at Bradenton.
"We've made quite a bit more progress since the last test sessions. The Mopar Dodge Avenger ran real good the last couple of days," said Johnson, who finished seventh in the 2009 NHRA Pro Stock standings, with two wins. "I felt we were pretty close to where we need to be. We tried quite a few different things, and I think we've got the car sorted out pretty well."
After a short break, Johnson and his J&J Racing crew will head out west to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Pro Stock Showdown, Feb. 5–6. The 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series campaign will commence the following weekend at the 50th Annual Kragen O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., Feb. 11–14.
