"I decided to stay in the truck for the entire race. The Mopar Dodge ran great, and we had a decent lead before we got bit by flat tires. My Collins Motorsports team did a great job." -- Brian Collins, on his solo second-place run at the SCORE Terrible's Primm 300 on Sept. 6. Collins and his No. 12 Mopar Dodge Ram 1500 Trophy Truck team are now in second place in the SCORE Desert Series and can capture the title with a win in the final event of the season, the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.

MoparĀ®'s Collins Draws Closer to Points Lead After SCORE Terrible's Primm 300 Runner-Up

Team Mopar® driver Brian Collins steered his No. 12 Mopar Dodge Ram 1500 Trophy Truck to a fourth podium finish in his last five events with a hard-fought runner-up result at the 13th Annual SCORE Terrible's Primm 300 desert race on Saturday, Sept. 6. Collins jumped to second place in the 2008 SCORE Desert Series championship chase with only one event remaining.

The Las Vegas, Nev., resident, along with navigator Billy Goerke, elected to drive all four 72-mile laps of the event, with co-driver Chuck Hovey on hand as an emergency back-up. Collins wasted little time in blazing his way to the front from his 15th-place starting position, running with the lead pack for most of the race and claiming the top spot on the final lap. Unfortunately, the desert terrain showed Collins and his Mopar Dodge no mercy, as two final-lap flat tires less than 10 miles from the finish line dashed the team's hopes for a third 2008 victory.

A victory in the final event of the year — the SCORE Baja 1000, the Superbowl of off-road racing — would give Collins a championship in his first year competing under the Team Mopar banner.

"It would be great to bring home a title for Mopar and Dodge in the first year since the brands' return to off-road racing," said Collins. "We'll have to do our homework now, try to get up there toward the front and win the Baja 1000 and take the championship."

Round 5 of the five-race 2008 SCORE Desert Series, the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, is scheduled for Nov. 20–23. For more info on the SCORE Desert Series, visit http://www.score-international.com.
