Hubinette hunts for first '08 win and points lead at Formula Drift Round Five: Breaking Point
Mopar NuFormz Racing Dodge Viper SRT10® driver Samuel Hubinette would like his visit to Evergreen Speedway for the Formula Drift Round Five: Breaking Point event to be a day of firsts. A triumph would earn the two-time FD champion his first win of 2008, his first victory in three tries at the Evergreen facility and most likely first place in the FD points standings. The FD event is scheduled for Saturday, August 9 at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash.
Hubinette's NuFormz Racing squad is led by team owner Shaun Carlson. They enter the race fresh off their second podium finish of the year, a third-place showing at the FD event in Las Vegas on July 12. With three races left in the FD championship, Hubinette is aware that crunch time is now in his chase for a third FD title.
"It's a very tight points battle," observed Hubinette. "We really need to stay on it. We only have three more events and the championship is coming close. We're only eight points out of the lead in the points race, and we hope to leave Seattle on top. This is the kind of facility where having a Mopar power plant under the hood pays off, because you know you can depend on the performance and reliability of Mopar engines. I know we'll be on top of our game come race day."
