Hübinette Looks to Conquer the 'World' at Long Beach

Team Mopar driver Samuel Hübinette has proven himself among the elite drifters in the U.S., with two Formula Drift (FD) championships and a series-high nine career FD wins. The man known as the "Crazy Swede" will soon have the chance to test his talents against the best drifters from around the world at the Red Bull Drifting World Championship, scheduled for Nov. 15-16 in Long Beach, Calif.

Hübinette will do battle with 31 drivers from 12 nations. The 32-car field, which includes 17 current and past champions, is invitation only. Hübinette, a Newport Coast, Calif. resident, finished second in the final 2008 FD points standings, with three podium finishes and three No. 1 Qualifier awards.

"I'm really excited to go head-to-head with the greatest drifters in the world," said Hübinette. "Winning the Red Bull championship would be huge. It would mean a lot to take home a trophy there, because the skill level will be so high. You will really have to bring your 'A' game. We're changing to the Mopar Drift Dodge Challenger next year, which we just debuted at the SEMA show, so it would be great to send out the Mopar NuFormz Dodge Viper SRT10® with a victory."

Qualifying for the Red Bull Drifting World Championship will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15, with the main event scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 16. For more info on the Red Bull Drifting World Championship, visit http://www.formuladrift.com.
