Final Honorary Pit Crew Members Named in Mopar Winner's Circle Program
A.P. Goodwyn, Parts Manager of Crossroads Chrysler-JeepĀ®-Dodge in Prince George, Va., along with Goodwyn's Wholesale customer Lonnie Johnson, owner of Compact Auto Works Inc., were named as the final honorary pit crew members in the 2008 Mopar Winner's Circle Program.
Goodwyn and Johnson got their peek at the inner workings of a Team Mopar pit crew at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals on Nov. 16. Goodwyn had the honor of shadowing Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driver Jerry Toliver's team for a day, while Johnson was paired with Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driver Gary Scelzi's pit crew.
"The Mopar Winner's Circle Program was great. The people that handle it were super and my client and I had a great time," said Johnson, who has worked at Chrysler dealerships since 1970. "I think Chrysler has done a really good job with the program and I would like to see it back again. We got to see the trailer, the pits and spend some time with the crew. They showed me what they have to do and how they do it. Jerry was really nice to me and explained a lot to me. But he's all professional when it comes time to race."
Parts managers from Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealerships were eligible to enroll in the Mopar Winner's Circle program. There was no cost to enroll. For more information about the Mopar Winner's Circle program, visit the dealer Web site at http://www.mopar.com.
