Armstrong Muscles His Way to Runner-up at Anderson

Team Mopar driver Dakoda Armstrong continued to build his growing United States Auto Club (USAC) reputation with an outstanding runner-up finish in a 100-lap Mopar Midget National Championship event at Indiana's Anderson Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 13. For the 17-year-old Hoosier native — who in July had won a unique 400-lap Midget event at the same track — it was the third podium finish of the season in USAC national Midget competition.

The Anderson event was to have capped off a weekend asphalt doubleheader for the Mopar Midget National Championship series, but Friday-night rains washed out a planned stop at the O'Reilly Raceway Park, outside Indianapolis.

Armstrong was joined in the top 10 by fellow Mopar driver Brady Bacon, the eighth-place finisher aboard the Kasey Kahne Racing Midget. For other Mopar competitors, it was a tough evening. Bacon's KKR teammate, Brad Sweet, was in a qualified position in the B-main until he was taken out in a crash.

The USAC teams move next to the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, where the Mopar Midget National Championship will be part of the historic track's Sept. 20th "4-Crown Nationals." Heading into Eldora, Sweet is fifth in the series standings, with Bacon sixth. For more info on the Mopar Midget National Championship, visit http://www.usacracing.com.
