Mopar-powered Clouser Competes in the Gold Crown Midget Nationals

Mario Clouser in his Mopar-powered midget competed in all three nights of the Third Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. Oct. 6-8 with the USAC Mopar National Midget Series.

The native of Auburn, Ill. finished 15th in the opener of the three-night event, racing his way into the 25-lap preliminary feature by way of the B-main after running fifth in the sixth heat race. Davey Ray finished 13th in the opener with Mopar power, while Taylor Ferns was 16th. Hunter Schuerenberg also qualified for the main event with a Mopar engine under the hood of his midget.

On the second night of the Gold Crown Midget Nationals, Clouser finished 18th. He ran fourth in the fifth heat race, which again put him in the B-main, where he finished fifth to earn a spot in the 25-lap preliminary feature.

The final night at Tri-City Speedway was a features only race program, with the lineups being set from event points earned during the firsts two nights of competition. Clouser began Saturday night in the B-main, where he finished fifth to earn a spot in the 50-lap finale. He wrapped up the weekend by finishing 14th.

The 2011 USAC Mopar National Midget Series season concludes for Clouser on Nov. 24 at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway with the running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix. For more information on the USAC Mopar National Midget Series, visit http://www.usacracing.com.
