Kasey Kahne Racing driver Joey Saldana was unable to post his usual solid outings during WoO Sprint action in California last weekend. The Team Mopar driver was forced to settle for a 17th-place finish on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville and 19th-place at the Thunderbowl Speedway in Tulare.

Saldana Looks to Bounce Back After Tough West Coast Swing

Team Mopar driver Joey Saldana is no doubt eager to put the West Coast in his rear-view mirror. The Kasey Kahne Racing driver endured a tough stretch in World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series action in California last weekend, finishing 17th on Friday night in the WoO feature race at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville and 19th at the Thunderbowl Speedway in Tulare.

The Ocean Speedway event started out on a promising note, with Saldana qualifying his Budweiser/Open Joist machine a strong fifth, but a fourth-place finish in his heat race left him out of the Crane Cams Dash, which sets the first 10 grid positions for the A-main finale. Saldana eventually placed 17th in the A-main. Saturday's Thunderbowl program went no better for Saldana and the KKR squad, as the team started the feature in 23rd. Though he was able to make some progress on the high-banked 1/3-mile track, Saldana could get no further than 19th.

Still sitting fourth in the season-long series standings, Saldana and his Kahne teammates head next to an Oct. 25 event at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. Then they'll head to North Carolina to wrap up the WoO season with the Oct. 30–Nov. 1 "World Finals" at The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The final night will be televised live on SPEED-TV.
