Saldana Hauls in Another Top-10 at Heartland Park Topeka
Team Mopar driver Joey Saldana and his Kasey Kahne Racing team made a mid-American "pit stop" of sorts at Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas on Saturday, Oct. 25. Interrupting his cross-country haul from recent events in California toward the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series "VAULT World Finals" this coming weekend in North Carolina, Saldana spent his night in Kansas charging from a sixth-row start to a fine seventh-place finish at the 3/8-mile Heartland Park dirt track. It was the 45th top-10 finish of a very consistent season for the popular Indiana driver and his Mopar-powered Budweiser/Open Joist Sprint Car.
Saldana’s charge from 15th at the green flag was among the highlights of the 35-lap WoO feature. In fact, no other top-10 finisher advanced further than Joey, marking him as one of the night’s overtaking stars. Earlier in the evening, he finished third in his qualifying heat.
With Kansas behind him, Saldana and his KKR team look to end 2008 on a high note with this weekend’s "VAULT World Finals," set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at The Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Saldana has scored a dozen top-10 finishes in 18 starts at the track and heads into the season’s final weekend ranked fourth in the points standings.
